What Are Solar Power Stations?
A portable solar power station is like a larger version of a power bank for phones, except these have more outputs like 120 volt AC, and 12 volt DC. These are larger portable battery system that store electricity, charging from solar, wall, or car, and delivers power through AC and DC outlets and USB ports. Recharge from a wall outlet, vehicle, or solar panels — ideal for off‑grid trips, remote work, remote filming locations, and emergency backup.
We have decided to carry the EcoFlow, Anker, and Bluetti brands of power stations due to their excellent quality, efficiency, features, and software. EcoFlow and Anker have a high quality ecosystem for their products and good integration between them, from portable power stations, to home backup, solar panels, fridges, and other gear. Bluetti products have been tested to have excellent output, reliability, and stellar efficiency. There are many other reputable brands out there such as Jackery that are great quality as well, along with more budget friendly options such as Pecron, however we have been very satisfied with our units.

What the Specs Mean
When you look at a power station’s specifications, here’s what the key terms mean for you:
- Capacity (Watt-hours or Wh): The size of the battery, like the “fuel tank.” Higher capacity means it can run devices for longer before needing a recharge. Rated in wattage times runtime: 1,000Wh means it can run a 1000W device for an hour, or a 500W device for 2 hours.
- Output (Watts or W): The maximum continuous power it can deliver. This tells you what kinds of devices it can run at the same time (e.g., laptops, fridges, lights). The bigger the number the higher power appliance you can run, for example a portable electric stove would need 1500W or more.
- Surge (W): Extra short‑term power available when appliances first start up. Important for things like fridges or tools that need a burst of energy such as saws.
- Charging Speed (AC/Solar): How quickly the station recharges from a wall outlet or solar panels. Faster charging means less downtime between uses.
- Ports: The types of plugs and connections available.
- AC ports: Standard wall‑style outlets for appliances and electronics.
- USB‑A: For phones and small gadgets.
- USB‑C: High‑power ports for phones, laptops, and tablets.
- Car port (12V): For Fridges, fridges, heated blankets, or other 12V gear.
